Is Your Copy Up To Date?

The most recent version of BlueTango is:      4.1.1
Check your version by clicking on any "help" tab and then on the "About" button.

This means BlueTango is at product number 4, release number 1, minor upgrade number 1. Your copy is out of date if has a lower product number, has the same product number with a lower release number, or has the same product number and release number but a lower minor upgrade number.

Product number 4 can unscramble messages created in product number 4 or lower. A lower product number cannot unscramble messages created by a higher product number.

All products lower than 4 are no longer supported but will continue to work for unscrambling (and if licensed, for scrambling), except they cannot decode messages from higher products.

Product 4 is very stable.

To date, all new products have been given to prior licensed owners free of charge. However, there may come a time when a higher product will be considered so different that a new purchase will be required to obtain all of its functions. In that case, the newer product will install separately from the older one. And prior licensed owners can choose to pay for the upgrade or can keep the older product for scrambling and can download the newer version to use for unscrambling.

If your copy is out of date, download a new one. Installing the new one will not affect your licensing (you will remain licensed if you are already licensed).

Version 4.1.1 contains:

- Improved help files.
- More choices in all the settings/tools sections (so you have more control over customizing the product).
- No bug fixes (since there are no pending unresolved issues)
- No changes to the scrambling algorithm.

What Improvements Are Being Considered?

- Adding edit support for HTML documents. BlueTango currently allows you to edit both Rich Text and Plain Text. And you can work with HTML by going into an external HTML editor, highlighting the text to scramble, placing it in a Rich Text editor in BlueTango, scrambling it, and then pasting the resulting scrambled section back into your external HTML editor. (People who browse such an HTML document can unscramble by reversing the process.) Many users follow that process when editing Rich Text documents as well since external editors like Word© are far more powerful than the limited ones inside BlueTango. However, it can be convenient to place larger portions of the document inside BlueTango to highlight and scramble intermixed sections, avoiding the back-and-forth process. (That option is available in HTML as well since you could paste a large intermixed scrambled/unscrambled Rich Text section back into the HTML editor). But we are considering adding a limited HTML edit section to the product.

- Creating add-on tools to use inside products like Word©, Messenger©, and Outlook/Outlook Express© so that scrambling and unscrambling could be done inside them. It is possible that these would be separate products requiring separate purchases.

- Add your suggestions to this list by sending an email at the address above.
